African Grey Parrot Health and Wellness Guarantee
We raise our African Grey parrots in-home with proactive avian veterinary care. The following protections apply to every parrot placed.
Veterinary Examination
The Buyer must take their African Grey parrot to a licensed avian veterinarian for a full health check within seven (7) days of receiving the parrot. If the veterinarian discovers a serious congenital defect or underlying illness, a full refund of the adoption fee, including transportation costs, will be issued upon the safe return of the parrot.
Breed-Specific Coverage
Because African Greys can be prone to certain avian-specific conditions, we provide a 36-month guarantee against serious congenital defects. If diagnosed with a covered condition (including Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease [PBFD], Proventricular Dilatation Disease [PDD], Aspergillosis, or severe feather-plucking disorder) by two (2) licensed avian veterinarians, the Buyer may return the parrot for either a full refund of the adoption fee (including transportation costs) or a replacement African Grey parrot of equal value.
Communicable Diseases
If the parrot is diagnosed with a communicable avian disease within the first fourteen (14) days of arrival, a full refund of the adoption fee, including transportation costs, will be provided upon the parrot's return.
Transportation and Delivery
Shipping: If the parrot is shipped, the Buyer is responsible for all transportation expenses. Only trusted avian transport services with climate-controlled carriers are used, and tracking details are provided for peace of mind.
Pickup: If the Buyer chooses to pick up their parrot in person, a non-refundable deposit is required at the time of signing this agreement. The remaining balance must be paid in full upon pickup.
Cost and Payment
The full adoption fee must be paid prior to delivery of the parrot, whether through shipping or pickup. For pickup arrangements, a non-refundable deposit is required at the time of this agreement, with the remaining balance due at pickup.
Buyer's Responsibilities
The Buyer agrees to provide their African Grey parrot with lifelong care, including:
-
High-quality pelleted diet supplemented with fresh vegetables, fruits, and nuts
-
Fresh water daily

A spacious, appropriately sized cage (minimum 36"W x 24"D x 48"H for African Greys)

-
Regular avian veterinary care including annual checkups
-
Mental enrichment through toys, foraging activities, and training

African Grey Specific Considerations
Given the species' unique characteristics, we recommend:
-
Avian Veterinary Care: Establish relationship with an avian veterinarian for regular checkups
-
Nutritional Management: Balanced diet with appropriate calcium levels (important for African Greys)
-
Feather Care: Monitoring for signs of feather destructive behavior
-
Respiratory Health: Avoid exposure to fumes, aerosols, and non-stick cookware (Teflon toxicity)
-
Socialization Requirements: Daily interaction and mental stimulation to prevent loneliness
-
Training: Positive reinforcement training to build trust and manage vocalizations
-
Environmental Enrichment: Rotating toys, puzzle feeders, and perches of varying textures
-
Flight Safety: Wing clipping or safe flight training as appropriate to your home environment
-
Long-term Commitment: African Greys can live 40-60+ years with proper care
